Let’s look at a few key qualities of a good edit.
It can introduce you to an unheard tune or show you a different perspective on something you think you know inside out.
It can turn around an unplayable track and emphasize on grooves and breaks while leaving the odd bits on the cutting table.
And most certainly, it can get you so heated up about finding the original tune, that you will spend months (if not years) looking for it.
All this applies to a lot of the edits by mikeBurns, a true maestro of leftfield (euro-) disco edits and someone who released his edits on vinyl only labels before it was an elitist chic thing.
This exclusive edit we’re hosting today is a good example of the aforementioned. It’s an odd german cover version of the disco classic “For Your Love” by Chilly. And the 7” version had to undergo some heavy rearrangment, or as Mike himself put’s it: “It required some serious bad chorus removal surgery but all is good now.”
That it is.
